A NEW library was a dream of almost every Yonsei student for a long time. The dream finally has come true last month. Buzz and anticipation awaited the grand opening of the Yonsei Samsung Library, the new library, on May 13, 2008. The event seemed more significant as Yonseians treated it more special. It was built to fulfill the role as a future-oriented academic information center. It aims to take advantage of the digital information environment of the 21st century to fully meet the information and research needs of Yonsei students with an effective knowledge and information management system. Being well aware of the role and purpose of the new library will definitely help Yonseians to make better uses of it. Yet, there are a lot more stories and things above and beyond to be aware of. *The Yonsei Annals* is about to share the stories behind the new library.

COLLEGE STUDENTS spend a great amount of time in a classroom where they learn and gain experiences that would take them to great success. So it is only logical that they should be provided with the best and well prepared class lectures. However, that may not be the case. So *The Yonsei Annals* questioned Yonseians what affirmative actions the school administration can take to improve classroom conditions and if Yonseians had the opportunity to reformat classroom conditions how they would do so.

THE LABOR market seems to be following the latest trends for hiring new employees. Unlike the former days, the latest job recruiting trend looks for people with experience, knowledge, and skill for specific duties such as marketing, financial affairs, or sales. The new program at the Yonsei Job Information Center, Yonsei Career & Employment Academy, was newly established in 2007, with consideration to this new job-recruiting trend and is running its programs with operating funds from the Ministry of Labor of Republic of Korea. The program assists students in making the best choices for their careers and offers free corresponding vocational education.

“WHEN I was a boy I was told that anybody could become President. Now I’m beginning to believe it,” said Clarence Darrow. Yet, such a statement probably does not seem so easily realized. Hence, *The Yonsei Annals* has decided to offer Yonseians a chance to become president and consider their priorities as well as what changes they would make if they became president. What would be your primary initiative?

WHILE STROLLING about the campus, our eyes catch a number of mountaineers. These alpinists are heading toward *Ansan* City Park, located at the backside of our campus. *Ansan* City Park is easy to climb if you take the entrance near Muak Dormitory. It is not very high, taking only 30 to 40 minutes to reach the top, but offers a great view of Seoul. Mountain climbers also can wet their whistles at 27 springs, provided by abundant water veins. *Ansan* City Park serves as a good place for taking a break between lessons or strolling with a boyfriend or girlfriend, taking in the gorgeous tints of autumn foliage. This is *Ansan* City Park, so enjoy the scenery and get some exercise at the same time.

HER FAVORITE writing of her own is *The Clock Tower*. It is a feature-length story, currently being serialized in a quarterly magazine by *Munhak Dongnae*. The story is about a girl and her 19 years of life. The girl experiences both sweetness and bitterness of life throughout various events. She interprets the world in her unique and interesting points of view and illustrates how she gets stronger as she gets older. Like her book, this story is going to feature the general life of Jeon A-ri (Soph., Dept. of French Language & Lit.) and her path as a writer.
