NOW GREETING its centennial year, NUS (National Univ. of Singapore) has developed into one of the top ranked universities in the world. It was placed in the top 20 universities by The Times of London, and was ranked 9th out of top 100 Engineering and IT Universities. As a national university, NUS receives strong governmental support. With extensive academic ambition, NUS invites exchange students from around the world.

Academic life in NUS

NUS adapts a relative evaluation system, so only the top 5~10% of attending students receive A's. Since many classes, consisting no more than 30 students, require group projects and readings beforehand, the curriculum may seem demanding. Furthermore, considering the workload in each class, proficient English skills are required.
Being able to learn and use Chinese is one of the great advantages of NUS, since one can use both English and Chinese in Singapore.

Facilities

Similar to Yonsei in size, the school accommodates about 6,000 residents in six different dormitories, which vary in environment, meals, and facilities. There are also two student residences which do not provide meals but more independence.
NUS has a total of six libraries on campus, including a newly renovated Central Library and a Chinese Library. The impressive NUS Central Library is equipped with discussion rooms, a chic refreshment area, and a collection of nearly two million books, journals, and more.
Activities around and outside campus

At NUS, one can experience excellent sports and recreation activities. The school has various sports centers, where students can learn as well as enjoy sports from squash and tennis to aquatic sports. In addition, there are various clubs that students can join at the beginning of the semester.
In Singapore, one can encounter diverse culture thanks to its multinational character. Exchange students at NUS can frequently visit nearby countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia, which are only an hour away. Moreover, one can visit relatively distant places such as Australia during the week-long vacations.

Why Singapore?

Singapore was chosen as the best business environment in Asia Pacific, since its geographical advantage and rich culture allows Singapore to easily connect with the rest of the world. NUS students can also obtain internship opportunities regardless of nationality. Experiencing a part of one's university life in the core of global interaction, and at one of the word's leading universities, will be a great asset to oneself.
