WHEN NEWS reached the residents in Juyeop, Goyang City, that the third confirmed patient of the Corona Virus Disease 19 (COVID-19) had visited the town, people panicked. Everybody started to wear masks and avoid contact with each other at all costs, while nearby businesses scrubbed down every nook and cranny of their stores. For a town always bustling with people going to the nearby shops and hospitals, the subway station being this empty at 7 p.m. on a Wednesday seemed impossible a few months ago. However, as the number of infected people increases worldwide by the day, people have been taking care to avoid public transportation, large crowds and unnecessary outings as much as possible.
