Launched on Sept. 6, this program was originally an hour-long program but was extended to two hours due to its popularity. According to Michelle Choi, Global Lounge Deputy Manager, there were not many international students on the week of Sept. 6 due to Korean Language Institution's holiday, but active language exchange among Korean and Korean-American students was carried out.
The Global Lounge also screens the latest sitcoms and realistic shows such as "Desperate Housewives" as part of the program. International students can thus feel at home and Korean students can study everyday English.
"Coffee is only a tool in this event. Our purpose is to give Korean and international students a chance to mingle and do cultural and linguistic exchange," sais Choi. She also emphasized that the Global Lounge is not turning into a cafe but that she hoped this program would strengthen the original purpose of Global Lounge, which is language exchange.
