EVERYSCHOOL has its own official press performing the role of representing all fellow students on campus. This is no exception for Yonsei, where there are three independent journalist groups that differ in methods of expression. The oldest and perhaps most widely known would be Yonsei Chunchu - the Korean weekly newspaper which has been providing campus information and more to Yonseians for more than 70 years. Next in line is The Yonsei Annals which is performing its role (or is certainly making efforts to!) as Yonsei's international loudspeaker; being the only English monthly on campus. Last but not least, this press group's importance is greatly stressed upon these days with the strong emergence of DMB broadcastings - YBS (Yonsei Educational Broadcasting Station). However, just how much of an impact are these three presses making on the 20,000 Yonseians? Just how many students are ardent readers or listeners of these regular publications? It is every media's object and goal to project the truth, and like our school's maxim, does the truth really set you free?

As frustrating as it may be, members of the press can never force its audience to keep a keen interest in its activities. One can only presume the annoyance Chunchu staff members feel every time a Yonseian opens up their paper to us as a tablecloth for their Jjangmyun. The Annals also experience its own share of neglect from fellow Yonseians - editions of the Annals are the most popular on rainy days as they seem to be the best waterproof umbrella available on the spot. YBS, of course, have their own share of problems. People listen to music with earphones in their ears when YBS are broadcasting specially selected music for them!

Though these moments can be discouraging at times, one fact should be set straight - all three presses are still well aware of those its avid readers and listeners. Times may change and the people who form these groups may change but one fact will always remain the same - it is always the audience that forms these medias. So speak up, and be heard for these three presses will act as your loudspeaker.
