YONSEI UNIVERSITY Medical Center presents the Centennial Anniversary Exhibition of Korea’s First Licensed Doctors. The exhibition, which introduces the progress of medical history in Korea, is held at the Centennial Hall from April 1 to 30.

The exhibition focuses on the seven doctors who received the first official medical license in 1908. Their passion and struggle in learning the new West medical science still remain in their notes and writings. The displayed materials including books, notes, and articles of early 20th century medical school were donated by Yonsei graduated students.

“Those seven doctors hold great meaning in both Korean medical history and Yonsei Univ. They were the first doctors to be trained in an organized system and to have the official certification from Korea to open a hospital. Also, after graduation, most of them stayed at Yonsei to educate Korea’s future doctors and nurses,” said an official of the exhibition.

The exhibition will provide a great opportunity for Yonseians to learn about medical history of Korea in the early 20th century, and those who devoted their lives for the future of Korea’s medical education.
