JOB FAIR for career opportunities in the United Nations Systems was held at the Centennial Hall on May 15, 2008. The event included a public forum with senior UN officials and offered advice on how to enter international organizations for young people.
The program consisted of Opening Ceremony, Information Session, and Issue & Group Session Ⅰ, Ⅱ. In Opening Ceremony, opening remarks, welcoming address and congratulatory address were referred. In Information Session, 16 International organizations including UN Secretariat, UNDP, and UNICEF introduced themselves for seven minutes each. In Issue & Group Session Ⅰ, Ⅱ, international organizations were divided into five groups to have small group discussion by people’s interest and to have meeting with Korean human resources officers of international organizations.
Many students participated in the job fair. Ha Jung-yun (Fresh., Col. of Social Science) said “The forum was beneficial, because opportunities to know about international organizations are not common, and the forum introduced various organizations.”
The job fair was a meaningful event that encouraged young Koreans to advance to international organizations. International organizations are gaining more importance in the world that pursues cooperation in international relations. For Yonseians who will play a significant role in the globalized society, the forum provided helpful advice on various international organizations and to how prepare to work in them.
