YonseiSeowoo - East Asian Calligraphy
YonseiSeowoo is the only official East Asian Calligraphy club at Yonsei Univ. Established in September 1980, its main activity is to gather every Thursday, including during vacations, to learn to the basic knowledge and skills of calligraphy from professional instructors. Additionally, it holds an exhibition of its works in the Centennial Hall twice a year. Whang Yujung, the chief of YonseiSeowoo, says, "Students may regard a calligraphy club as boring and old-fashioned, but YonseiSeowoo is always full of interesting and joyful events thanks to the vigorous and delightful members. We also go on field trips to the mountains and the sea regularly, and all the activities are based on the members' voluntary participation."

ROTHEMS - Musical Performance
ROTHEMS is a newborn musical club organized in November 2008. Some students who have great passion for musicals got together to perform musicals on their own. ROTHEMS is an abbreviation for "Run On THE Musical Stage," which means any Yonseian can be a hero or heroine of their musical works. Last Christmas, the members of ROTHEMS went out to the Shinchon and Jongno streets, singing some carols and musical songs. They also raised funds for the poor at that time and donated to World Vision, an international aid agency. "Since winter vacation we have been preparing for our first annual performance, Grease," says Kim Yun-hye, the chief of ROTHEMS.

YAAA - Celestial Observation
2009 is the "International Year of Astronomy" designated by the U.N., marking the 400th anniversary of the first use of an astronomical telescope by Galileo Galilei. How about having an interest in surveying the starry heavens like Galilei? Yonsei Amateur Astronomical Association (YAAA) is an official club that observes the galaxy embroidered with limitless stars on the night sky. It was founded in 1985 beginning with observing Halley's Comet. There is a seminar once a week, except during exam periods, where the members learn how to operate the telescope and essential tips for the observation. Jeong Seung-woo, the chief of YAAA, says, "Even if you have no knowledge about astronomy, you can always join us and will be impressed by the mysteries of the universe."
