This year, the number of examinees for the first part of Higher Civil Service Examination and Foreign Service Examination was 14,137, while only 347 will survive finally according to the Ministry of Public Administration and Security. Some Yonseians are also preparing for these state examinations since they have a dream to work for their country and its people in the public sector. Although it is common for the students preparing for the state exams to pay a high tuition fee for lectures at private institutes, The State Examination Support Center provides a special lecture program for them with special prices.

Who are the lecturers and how are they selected?
To find a lecturer who is the most competent and suitable for teaching Yonseians, we contact professors of Yonsei Univ. who are prominent in their fields. In addition, we go to Shinlim-dong, which is known as the “Mecca of gosi” and search for the best lecturer at famous private institutes after surveying who the most competent lecturer is. After adjusting the time and contents of lectures with them, we announce the confirmed schedule on our website (http://exam.yonsei.ac.kr/).

When do lectures begin and how much is the tuition fee?
As soon as summer vacation begins, the special lecture program offers basic lectures for the essential subjects in the state exam, such as economics, public administration, and administrative law. The lectures are offered on weekdays including Saturday until vacation ends. During the semester, we also have irregular lectures on simulated interviews, or advice from those who passed the exam. The quality of the lectures is the same as most leading private institutes, but at one-fourth or one-third the cost for Yonseians. Last year, the tuition for each basic lecture was 80,000~100,000.

How to register the program
1. Students should visit the website (http://exam.yonsei.ac.kr/) and fill up the application form to be a member of The State Examination Support Center.
2. After login, click “Apply” for the specific lecture you choose on the bulletin board.
3. When the confirming process is finished, deposit the tuition to the designated account.
4. The next day, click “Finish” on the website and bring your ID card when entering the class.
