World renowned scholar James M. Tiedje (Prof., Microbiology, Michigan State Univ.) was invited by the World Class University (WCU) Center to exchange academic information on "Green Metagenomics," a field of genomic engineering aiming to sustain the ecosystem. He gave special lectures to students and collaborated with Yonsei scientists from July 22 to Sept. 22. He will be visiting Yonsei Univ. two months a year for the next four years. In an interview with The Yonsei Annals, he said, "Microbiology is an important academic field that can have a great influence on monitoring environmental problems. It allows us to recognize ecological trends and how it influences organisms."
