On Aug. 18, a lecture was given on Subjective Well-Being (SWB) by a leading scholar in the study of happiness, Ed Diener. Professor Diener’s lecture was given at B09 of Widang Hall where many students and professors filled the seats. The main message of the lecture was about the definition of Subjective Well-Being, the effects that SWB has to individuals and the society, and why Koreans should be concerned about the current SWB of Korea for it is disturbingly low compared to the economic status of Korea. Professor Diener also emphasized the important role that Yonseians should play in the society by saying “Now it is up to you to guide the society to social and psychological wealth!”
