Another year is coming to an end. So is my term as the editor-in-chief of *The Yonsei Annals*. Writing the last column, I had the opportunity to look back upon my campus life so far.
Among the many challenges I have gone through, my term as editor-in-chief in particular has been one of the toughest one. What is it to be a leader? I would question myself.
It is crazy nowadays how even freshmen worry about employment. Students rush into building so-called *specs* and dream to become a leader someday. Looking deep inside, the motive of becoming a leader often comes from the desire to be recognized and acknowledged. "I am different, better than others." Such thought leads to other assertions such as wanting people to obey. Here the "I" becomes very important becoming the center of everything.
The disciples were no different from people of today. Jesus saw that they had such erroneous idea about leadership and taught them about "servant leadership."  "...Whoever wants to become great among you must be a servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be a servant to everyone..." (Mark 10:43~44) Here being a "servant" means that the higher you get, the more humble you have to be, pursuing the spirit of a servant.
This month’s Cover Story deals with Korean women at work; the obstacles they face and have to overcome when jumping into a place called“society”that is similar yet very different to campus life.
Whether that be women or men, let us be leaders, servant leaders that are not only obsessed with the final product or result but takes interest in people.
The two years and half here at *The Yonsei Annals* have been a priceless experience and joy. Not that The semesters have been all fair and smooth, yet the hardships still remain as valuable memories. I thank God for his guidance in all tasks and for making me see and admit my weaknesses and inadequacies. I also thank all the staff for sparing no efforts all through the semester. I sincerely hope that the year 2010 is a happy ending for all of you. God bless you!
