DUE TO the pandemic, less fortunate elderly people are unable to seek support from local senior centers or community centers. Instead, they head to Tap-gol park in Seoul, where they can interact with those in similar situations and receive free food prepared by the Won-gak-sa canteen. Socially distanced tables are scattered under trees, blocking the scorching sun while they eat their bi-bim-bap and thank the volunteers for helping them. Through the warmth of food and company, they can endure another day during these trying times.
