2007’s new program at the Yonsei Job Information Center

THE LABOR market seems to be following the latest trends for hiring new employees. Unlike the former days, the latest job recruiting trend looks for people with experience, knowledge, and skill for specific duties such as marketing, financial affairs, or sales. The new program at the Yonsei Job Information Center, Yonsei Career & Employment Academy, was newly established in 2007, with consideration to this new job-recruiting trend and is running its programs with operating funds from the Ministry of Labor of Republic of Korea. The program assists students in making the best choices for their careers and offers free corresponding vocational education.
Curriculum
The curriculum of Yonsei Career & Employment Academy is divided into five courses. Students receive a diploma for each course as it is finished; they must attend more than eighty percent of the classes. If students finish the first four courses, they will receive an Employment Master certification.

Step One: The Career Path School
Available for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors during the spring semester.
Students in this course are required to take the “Career and Future” class. During the class, they take tests examining personal humanity and aptitude in order to help themselves in choosing the right career paths. Afterward, students are introduced to jobs, which are categorized by industrial and occupational classification.

Step Two: The Working Skills School

In this course, professionals from a variety of occupations instruct the classes. Students take classes according to their career and job choices among Strategy & Planning, Human Resources & Organization, Sales & Marketing, Financial Affairs & Accounting, Production Management and R&D (Research and Development), or Common Skills. Students deepen their knowledge and learn related skills during the classes. This course is considered to be the most important part of the entire program.

Available for juniors and seniors during the spring & fall semesters, and summer & winter vacations.
This course holds conferences and classes during school days, however, during summer and winter vacations, everything is operated in the form of a camp. This course facilitates several study groups according to industrial and occupational classification. Each study group is assigned with a mentor who is a professional in a particular job field.
