Smart functions of the Yonsei student ID card

SMART CARDS are commonly seen these days, and our student ID card is one of them. Just like other smart cards, the Yonsei student ID card has some useful and convenient functions as well. Although many students complain about our student ID card, and there is still room for improvement, most people are unaware of the benefits and conveniences of using it.

 Electronic certification
Your private information can be protected by using authorized certificates and making your own password when using Internet banking services. Usually, these certificates are saved on your hard disk, so using them in other places is troublesome. However, if you want to use your authorized certificates on other PCs, you can copy your certificate on your ID card or USB.

Student Interview
Lee Ji-soo (Soph., Dept. of Housing & Interior Design)
I usually use only the basic functions of my ID card such as entering or exiting the library, borrowing books, or confirming my presence in classes. I sometimes use it as a debit card, but I hope there are greater benefits of using it, just like when using a membership card of telecommunication companies. Also, I do not like the present design of the card because it is too simple and does not clearly show that it is a "Yonsei" ID card compared with the design of the former one.

How to save your certificate in your ID card
Go to www.wooribank.com and select the "Personal Service" tab.
Click "Certification Center" and select "Certificate Management" on the left hand side. Then, click "Copy Certificate."
Choose "Smart Card" when selecting the saving location and also have a smart card reader to put your ID card in.

Our future ID card

Yonsei Univ. will make a "Mobile Card" as soon as possible to reduce the inconveniences of the present ID card by building in a mobile chip in cellular phones. This will be more convenient for the students and reduce the cost of reissuing ID cards by decreasing the possibility of losing them.
